UIBH

The Urban Institute for Behavioral Health

Mission statement

The Urban Institute for Behavioral Health (UIBH) is dedicated to fostering private/ public partnerships involving the identification, dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of values driven (recovery oriented and culturally competent) evidence based practice models in a diverse urban setting through a unique partnership of non-profit behavioral health organizations and the State and City governmental agencies that fund and regulate them. UIBH is dedicated to bridging the gap between evidence-based practices and their application at the program level. In addition, UIBH recognizes the efficacy of existing practices not yet empirically validated, and works with its member agencies to shed light on and obtain data to support this innovative work. UIBH stresses the importance of culture and places particular emphasis on developing a model for evidence based practices to be implemented in a culturally competent manner.

UIBH is working to bridge the gap between science and practice through a unique partnership between private not for profit agencies and the public agencies that fund and regulate them.
